“A 50mm full frame equivalent is a “healthy” focal range in that the photographer’s involvement with his subject is in equilibrium with his natural immersion in the world; that is, with neither the distorted self-insertion required by a wide angle lens or the voyeuristic detachment of a telephoto. Wide angle photography often seems more about the mechanism of the lens than the picture.”
